Adaptec

Company Overview

Highlights

Provides data storage hardware and software that facilitates the movement, storage and protection of information.
Products are designed and manufactured at sites in the U.S., Singapore, and India, as well as at other third-party sites around the world.

Adaptec operates three lines of business. The company’s biggest revenue producer is its storage solutions group, which provides interface products that enable the movement, storage, and protection of data. Two other divisions include its desktop solutions group, which provides high-performance input/output connectivity and digital media products, and the storage networking group, which makes storage connectivity products for servers, storage devices, fabric switches, and networks. The company went public by 1986 based mainly on the strength of its SCSI technology for host adapters and network interface cards. The company has since branched out into developing CD burners and faster network transfer technology. Late in 2005, the company reported that it would sell its systems business, including the assets of Eurologic Systems and Snap Appliance which it had purchased in 2003 and 2004, respectively, and focus on core components. In 2007,

Adaptec left its Desktop Solutions Group (DSG) business, which developed consumer connectivity and digital media products.
