Adecco is the leading provider of employment services worldwide. Formed in 1957 in Switzerland, the company expanded throughout Europe in the 1960s and to the United States in 1972. In 2005, it acquired Altedia, a French human resources company, and in 2006, it bought the German staffing firm DIS Deutscher Industrie Service. Adecco’s services include temporary staffing, permanent employee placement, project assistance, training, outplacement and outsourcing services. The company realigned its business at the start of 2006. In addition to its office and industrial core, Adecco now operates six business lines: finance and legal; engineering and technical; information technology; medical and science; sales, marketing, and events; and human capital solutions.
