Company Overview
Avanade, a joint venture of Microsoft and Accenture, was launched in April 2000. The company, which calls itself a “global technology integrator,” provides Internet and technology consulting services. Its solutions are based on the Microsoft Windows and .NET platform. Offerings include technology infrastructure work, e-business services, business intelligence, pervasive computing, software as a service, and knowledge management. Avanade’s customers include in EMI Music, NASA, Buy.com, and the FCC. It has alliances with EMC, Unisys, and NetIQ. In 2002, Accenture increased its stake in the company to approximately 78 percent, with Microsoft holding onto approximately 19 percent.
