CNET Networks

Company Overview

Since day one, CNET Networks has been the place where technophiles become early adopters, and wireheads of all stripes can feed their mad obsession. Since becoming profitable in 2003, it has begun broadening its base to appeal to a wider consumer audience. The San Francisco-based company operates a collection of websites and TV and radio programs geared towards providing unbiased product reviews and other technology-related news and information. In addition to CNET.com, the company’s stable includes News.com, TechRepublic, Download.com, Shopper.com, Builder.com, GameSpot, MySimon.com, Computer Shopper magazine, and CNET Channel. CNET Radio, a technology-focused radio show, has morphed into CNET Radio Direct, delivering twice-daily digital audio offerings. CNET also owns ZDNet, a former competitor and provider of technology websites. In 2003, it bought MP3.com from Vivendi, dipping its hands into the Internet music market, and it has begun inking deals with Cox, TiVo, and TVN to expand into television and video on demand.
