Company Overview
Lee Roy Mitchell and Paul Broadhead had a vision to bring Hollywood to the common man. They founded Cinemark in 1985 to build discount theaters in suburbs that lacked movie theaters. Their goal was to own and operate 1,000 screens by 1992. After blowing past that goal, they tried something new: megaplexes named Hollywood USA, each of which house 15 screens, an arcade, and food establishments. The company also owns a number of Imax theaters across the United States. Its foreign operations include movie houses in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Peru.
