Constellation Energy Group

Company Overview

Formed in April 1999 after the deregulation of Maryland’s electric utility industry, Constellation Energy Group is the holding company for Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), the premier utility in Maryland. Through its subsidiaries, Constellation serves the energy requirements of utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, retail aggregators, and large commercial and industrial customers throughout the U.S. It designs, constructs, and operates single-site heating, cooling and cogeneration facilities for commercial and industrial customers; provides home improvements, service heating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and indoor air quality systems; and provides electric and natural gas retail marketing. It also runs a district cooling system for commercial customers in Baltimore. In 2002, Constellation acquired AES New Energy, a commercial and industrial energy services company. In 2003, the company acquired Alliance Energy Services, a provider of gas supply and transportation services; Fellon-McCord & Associates, an energy consulting business; and the Alberta-based electricity division of Dynegy Canada. In 2004, the Company consolidated several subsidiaries into a new division called Constellation NewEnergy-Gas Division, which provides natural gas supply, transportation, and related services to businesses throughout North America.
