If your personal computer plays sound, it probably uses one of Creative Technology’s products. Creative is a major producer of multimedia products and PC peripherals; its Sound Blaster line comprises more than 70 percent of the multimedia/sound card market. Founded in 1981 and based in Singapore, Creative also manufactures a variety of other multimedia products such as PC-DVD players, MP3 players, speakers, and video and communications equipment. Creative Labs, the company’s U.S. subsidiary, manages all marketing, training, and customer-support operations throughout the Americas. Creative Technology licenses its products to computer and digital equipment makers such as Acer, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, Microsoft, Intel, Micron, and NEC—among many.
