Headquartered in a modern Philadelphia office (albeit not as modern as the one in their green and purple pre-2006 building), Dechert breaks its practice into four general areas: litigation, government, tax, and business. Its major strength is mergers and acquisitions, but the firm handles everything from criminal law to real estate, and it’s well respected for its First Amendment work. The firm’s more than 900 lawyers occupy 12 U.S. and 6 international offices. To expand its overseas operations, the firm allied with U.K.-based firm Titmuss Sainer in 2000. Dechert’s corporate clients have included GlaxoSmithKline, Unisys, and Pfizer. In January 2003 Dechert opened a new office in San Francisco that focuses on commercial real estate finance.
