Founded in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1915, Deluxe Corporation is the largest provider of printed checks and related products and services in the world. The company’s three business units (Deluxe Business Services, Deluxe Financial Services, Direct Checks) combine to provide checks, business forms, labels, self-inking stamps, fraud prevention services, and customer retention programs to banks, credit unions, financial services companies, consumers, and small businesses. In 2004, Deluxe acquired New England Business Service, which provides customized office supplies to businesses. Printed checks and business forms account for most of the company’s sales. Deluxe processes more than 1 million check orders each year to nearly 640,000 small businesses, 10,000 financial institutions, and 31 million consumers. Despite the introduction in the past decade of e-commerce and online bill payment tools, a recent survey declared that checks remain the most popular form of non-cash payment among consumers. The company recently announced an information pipeline agreement with eFunds, a provider of finance technology, to deliver services to their financial institution clients. Deluxe continues to seek additional investment and partnership opportunities.
