Company Overview
This former tire manufacturer (it sold its BF Goodrich tires business more than a decade ago) has emerged as a leading supplier of aerospace components, systems, and services, focusing in recent years entirely on the aerospace industry, and selling off assets including its industrial products and chemicals businesses in the process. In 2002, it acquired TRW Aeronautical Systems, making it the world’s largest “pure play” aerospace company. The company has three main lines of business: Airframe Systems (which provides aircraft maintenance and repair services), Engine Systems, and Electronic Systems. Goodrich—founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1870—has more than 90 facilities in 16 countries.
