Grant Thornton was named a "2008 Working Mother 100 Best Company" by Working Mother magazine.
Grant Thornton’s not-for-profit publications keep executives, as well as board and audit committee members, abreast of industry issues, informed on best practices and apprised of industry trends.
Grant Thornton LLP is the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd, and is one of six global accounting, tax and advisory organizations. The company provides clients with auditing services as well as Sarbanes-Oxley expertise, mergers and acquisitions advice, tax services, and business valuations. Founded as Alexander Grant & Co. in 1924, the firm took its current name in 1986 when it joined with the UK firm Thornton Baker.
Grant Thornton serves clients in industries including construction, real estate, hospitality, consumer and industrial products, financial services and institutions, energy, health care, not-for-profit, global public sector, private equity and technology. It has 50 offices across the United States, and 480 offices internationally.
Although the company is not one of the Big Four, Grant Thornton has grown organically and through acquisitions. In 2006 it bought the restructuring and performance improvement business of Stout Risius Ross in Chicago and Detroit. Moreover, in that year its revenue growth was largely attributed to a growing roster of international clients.
