Juniper Networks

Company Overview

Highlights

Recognized in 2006 by Telecommunications magazine as one of “The Ten Most Relevant Companies” for having a significant impact on the industry. Supports the world’s 25 largest network service providers.
In September 2006, announced a strategic partnership with Symantec to deliver joint security solutions by loading more of Symantec’s technology onto Juniper’s networking devices.

To meet the needs of the rapidly expanding Internet, service providers rely on Internet Protocol (IP) routers and networking and security products such as those developed by Juniper Networks. Additionally the company offers its customers a line of education, professional, and support services that allow them to plan, analyze, design, and operate their networks.

The company, which is giving Cisco some sustained competition, outsources its manufacturing to contractors such as Celestica and Solectron, and sells directly and through manufacturers to Internet and telecommunications service providers such as WorldCom, government agencies, and schools. Juniper is focused on growing through expansion of its product base for the enterprise market. In 2004, it acquired NetScreen Technologies, adding virtual private network (VPN) and firewall products to its portfolio of routing solutions, and in 2005 it acquired session border control (SBC) systems developer Kagoor Networks, network migration specialist Acorn Packet Solutions, and network access application developer Funk Software.
