Porter Novelli

Company Overview

Highlights

A global public relations company.

Some 60 percent of the agency’s revenue comes from its marketing practice, with the remaining revenue split between the corporate and public affairs practices.

Clients include the American Cancer Society, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Gillette, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, and Procter & Gamble.

Launched its new entertainment unit in October 2006.

Porter Novelli was founded in 1972 and today has offices in 15 U.S. locations and more than 100 locations worldwide. The firm’s biggest offices are its New York and Washington, D.C., locations. In 2004, it combined its offices in San Jose and Campbell, California, into a single Silicon Valley office. Account wins in 2004 included The College Board, Georgia-Pacific, Hilton, and MedicAlert; the company stopped working on the PeopleSoft and Aventis accounts that same year, due to those companies’ mergers. Porter Novelli is organized into three main practice areas, corporate, marketing, and public affairs. The agency’s industry focuses include consumer, diversified industries, financial services, government and advocacy institutions, health care, resources, and technology. Of late, the corporate and public affairs practices have shown strong growth; in terms of industries, the agency’s work with consumer products and technology companies has increased markedly.
