What are the best ways to network for shy people?
Networking works when it is authentic and comfortable. So if you’re shy, cold-calling, large mixers, and public forums may not be good choices.
Try group environments where you know some but not all people; you can practice mixing and there will be people there helping you along. Also, try group activities that you really enjoy (e.g., company softball league); you will have the activity in common as the natural icebreaker.
Finally, put yourself in situations where people have to come to you: Volunteer to organize a company party or put a candy dish on your desk.
