Earning The Salary You Deserve

My current salary is low.  How do I answer the salary question so they don’t lowball me?

Answer

Focus on what you will be doing and what the market pays for that position.  This way you frame the discussion around your future compensation and not your current compensation, which may be low but possibly irrelevant if the target job is very different.  You will need to do research so you know your target market.  You will need to make a case for why you deserve to be in that salary range.  But this will only make you a more knowledgeable and confident candidate, which will help get you both the job and the appropriate salary.
