A Lesson in Style
My target companies all dress casual. Should I wear a suit to the interview?
Answer
There is a clear rule-of-thumb here: Always wear a suit for an interview. Always look impeccable. Make sure everything from your head to your toes are sparkling clean, including your nails, clothes, and shoes. Your shoes should shine so much you have to squint when you look at them!
You can incorporate your knowledge of the firm’s culture in your accessory and color choices. For finance and consulting, stick with the conservative blues and blacks. For media, fashion, or other industries, less traditional colors are more welcome and may give the recruiter a better sense of your personality.
