Question of the Week

Working Overseas Would you consider relocating to a different country for work?

The One-Pager: Classic for a Reason

I can’t seem to fit everything on one page. Can I have a two-page resume?

Answer

C'mon now. As much as we all hate it, adhere to the most classic of resume rules: Draft a one-page resume only! Your school must compile a resume book and the only ones I’ve ever seen have only one-page resumes. Two-pagers are reserved for individuals with at least five years of experience.

The easiest way to make your resume a one-pager is to do a complete data dump of everything you want to include (Two or three pages is fine.), and then start to trim. Students really need to be concise and to the point. If you are really having a tough time with this, consult career services or a resume coach, or the many resume writing guidebooks out there.
