Are Job Seekers Really Using Social Media to Look for Jobs?

I hear a lot about how being active on social media can help you snag a job, and now TweetMyJobs.com has some stats to back it up. According to the website’s recent poll of 2,000 job seekers and 400 company representatives, both job seekers and recruiters are embracing social media to connect with each other.

 

TweetMyJobs put together a video about the survey results (see above, and make sure to turn up your volume for the 007-inspired music), but below are some stand-out stats from the survey:

  • 50 percent of job seekers spend most their time searching on traditional job boards
  • 29 percent of job seekers use social media as their primary tool for job searching
  • 45 percent of companies plan to invest more in social recruiting in 2012
